In the exhibition and studio spaces of the ZOOM Children's Museum at the Vienna MuseumsQuartier, topics from art, science and everyday culture can be explored in a playful way. The ZOOM Animation Studio lets children between 8 and 14 years old create animated short films as a team – from the story to drawing characters to sound design.

As part of the Interreg project "Animation NOW", we were commissioned together with the Vienna-based design and architecture studio ZIRUP to modernise and technically redesign the studio.

Custom animation tables

A particular highlight is the two completely redesigned, height-adjustable animation tables, which can be operated with simple multitouch gestures.

Automated digitisation

At two separate digitisation stations, the children's hand-drawn characters and objects are automatically cut out and transferred to the tables for further editing. Finally, the films can be given sound before being exported and archived in the museum's digital collection.
